Dear Diary

For a year that I had everything planned out it was a bumpy ride, to be honest.

As 2021 whined down I am inclined to pen down the things I have learned, failed at and grown to understand.

Firstly, I’m grateful for my family. Things took a big shift and the reality is no matter how far a person goes family would always be a safe place to run to if anything goes bad. this is beyond being related by blood, but of a fact that people who were once acquaintances have built the trust to secure a relationship that goes beyond saying good morning like strangers.

Building relationships with people isn’t my thing but I have learnt to put out a hand in case someone might be drowning but wouldn't shout. Responding to those text messages and returning missed calls, hopefully, I do these things effortlessly this new year.

I guess there's no better time to start something, better to try and fail than not try at all. My writing journey last year has been the most uncomfortable ride 2021, to figure out writing terms and getting writing gigs not just for the passion but to pay some bills, it's been exhausting finding a balance.

The previous year has thought me patience that I didn't have, gratitude, leadership especially as a clan leader and time management towards my education amongst other stuff.

Although the curtains of 2021 have closed with all the boxes in my resolution ticked off, the new year would always come with new challenges and goals.

A couple of things I intend to do this year would be:

  1. Learn how to drive, I have successfully mastered the art of driving people crazy now I’d like to drive a car.
  2. Give a shot at the Lagos food bank initiative, ever since I registered as a volunteer I haven’t had time to contribute my quota to the team. Hopefully, I’ll be better this year.
  3. Be kinder to me. Life is already hard enough, the least I can do is to not beat myself down every time I’m down.
  4. Be a better sister to my siblings and a better friend to my friends.
  5. Start my own business, have multiple streams of income and make more money.
  6. Meet more people at the business and enjoyment table(chilling with the big boys), whilst eating healthy and working out.
  7. Stop shrinking myself and take more pictures of me and the things I love.
  8. Join the media team in church, it's time to extend my wings in ministry.
  9. Read and review more books.
  10. Create a content calendar and put more of my writings on my blog.

The rest of my resolution can come up as the year runs, starting from this instance I’d hold myself accountable if I don't fulfil them.

I urge you to free yourself this new year and be wild. Don't be sober, master your art even if it comes out looking like a mess, you never know who makes a masterpiece out of a mess.

Happy new year Fam.
